What to replace and when?
In the first procedure, if there is no picture or the picture is fuzzy, in most cases just the LCD can be replaced. When the outer glass is cracked or the touch screen is not responding, the touch screen needs to be replaced, which can be performed without replacing the LCD.
In the second procedure, if there is no picture or the picture is fuzzy, the entire LCD with touch screen has to be replaced. When the outer glass is cracked or the touch screen is not responding, the touch screen needs to be replaced, which can be done without replacing the LCD only in some models.
In the third procedure, if there is no picture or the picture is fuzzy or the touch screen is not responding, the entire LCD-touch screen-glass unit needs to be replaced. If the glass is cracked and the rest is functional, then just the glass can be replaced, but again, only in some models.
Time requirements for replacement and replacement procedure description:
For the first procedure, when the LCD or the touch screen are glued to the frame, the time requirement for the replacement is from one hour to one work day.
For the second and third procedures, a minimum of two work days is necessary. The entire LCD with the ouch screen and the glass is removed from the rest of the device, usually by heating it up in a specially designed chamber and then by placing it in vacuum. Depending on whether it’s the second or third procedure, the heat will soften the UV glue and then the touch screen or the glass itself can be removed from the LCD by pulling a special cable . After that, the LCD is cleaned of remaining glue and a new touch screen or glass is glued over it. After it is all a single unit again, the unit is cleaned and glued to the device frame.
During every cleaning and gluing phase,0 a certain amount of time is necessary for the cleaning fluid to evaporate or the glue to dry which prolongs the duration of the repairs.
Also, during such repairs there is a risk of the entire LCD having to be replaced. We have, depending on the model, reduced that risk to 0-3%. Prior to every repair, we take care to point out all the risks as well as time requirements for the repair to device users. The difference between a repaired LCD and a replacement LCD is in most cases negligible and can be purely visual. Our service personnel make the maximum effort to ensure that the original and the LCD we’ve repaired exhibit zero differences in quality, visible or invisible.
